Conservation
Preservation
Preserving our environment for future generations is a fundamental principle of the Breamore Estate. We feel privileged to be part of the Cranborne Chase & West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which helps preserve the area.
Breamore Estate hosts a wide variety of terrains from rivers and wetlands, to chalk valleys and forests. This range of habitat hosts a complex and intricate collection of fauna and flora that spans across the estate and to our neighbours. Breamore is an active member of the Allenford Farmer Cluster, which aims to restore, enhance and create habitats across the cluster for target species. By working in partnership with our neighbours through the cluster, we have been able to record and promote numerous rare and endangered species.
In 2020 we recorded:
10 types of bees
107 types of birds
32 types of butterflies
12 of the 18 types of bats in the UK
Barn owl boxes with 75% occupancy
We take an active role in promoting target species that need additional support. We do this by planting winter food sources, increasing and preserving habitats and the ‘corridors’ that link them.
