Originally the Steward’s Room, the present dining-room looks east down an avenue of lime trees planted in the time of William and Mary. Retaining much of its Tudor character, the furniture is of oak.
There are two early refectory tables with carved supports showing monastic and heraldic influences, a court cupboard circa 1600 and a set of Charles II armchairs.
The imposing set of four large canvasses are by Peter Andreas Rysbrach (1690-1748),
the son of Peter Rysbrach the landscape painter and brother of Michael, the well-known
sculptor.
